The Back Bay A to H: LA Burdick's
Everybody likes to say they’re “the best.” But it’s tough to discern who really is, when everyone says they’re the best. And there’s no argument here, that LA Burdick’s makes the best hot chocolate. In the country. If you’e never had one, don’t even try and argue.
I really do think Burdick’s makes some of the best hot chocolate I’ve had. I’m making a joke about being the best, because there are a couple places in Boston’s Back Bay that claim to have the best hot chocolate in various categories. Burdick’s sign says they’ve been rated best in the country, and I believe it. There’s another shop down the street whose sign reads “Best Hot Chocolate in Boston.” My question is, how could the best hot chocolate in Boston be different from the best hot chocolate in the country?
I digress. The point of this post is to fill you in on a slightly hidden gem nestled on Clarendon St. between Boylston and Newbury. Aside from the hot chocolate, they also offer a variety of pastries and desserts along with individual chocolate treats. The cafe has a nice seating area, but it can be a little busy on the weekend. It’s a great place for an afternoon date.
My last visit was on a warmer day and I actually indulged in an iced mocha. Also very good, but not the same as the original hot chocolate.
