Boston Ballet Class
Being social is not one of my strengths, but I’m working on it. In an effort to break out of my shell, I’ve joined several organizations. One of them being, the Young Partners of the Boston Ballet. I was invited as a guest to two performances with receptions at the Ritz Carlton after. Had a great time both times.
Membership comes in varying levels, with the minimum donation of $250 to become a Young Partner. I made the minimum donation a few weeks ago. Then I get an invitation to a ballet class, followed by brunch. Sign me up!
I actually hemmed and hawed before RSVPing. But ultimately, I knew it would be fun. I’ve though about how I would be in such great shape if I were a cavalier. I was the only guy, with a 6 or 7 girls and the instructor, Melissa.
She dove right in, deeper than I had anticipated. She was calling off numbered positions and dropping French left and right. It was fantastic. We did a couple different sequences. I definitely felt the stretch. I appreciate even more what the dancers are able to do with their bodies.
The class was followed by breakfast, where we mingled. It was nice to meet a few other Young Partners, whom I hope to see at future events. All in all, we all had a great time, I think I can safely say. It was a great entry into the Young Partners. I’ll report back about future functions. I don’t have the schedule in front of me, but I know that the Nutcracker and Holiday party are fast approaching!
